Along the shoulder of West Bernardo Drive (the sign says they're still planning a hike/bike trail...)
Two views of the Bernardo Bay trailhead; click here and scroll down to see a similar shot before the fires.
Duenda access to the Piedra Pintados Trail
North Side trailhead; sounds like access will remain open so long as hikers/bikers keep to the trail!
The eucs and some willows were the only trees to make it through the fire.
Looking east across the lake
One patch of coastal sage scrub miraculously survived! Hopefully the gnatcatchers did, too...
The trail west of the freeway; the homeowners on the hill are eternally grateful to the efforts of the firefighters!
Mule Hill trailhead
Del Dios Trail near Hernandez's Hideaway; here the vegetation was spared, but not across the water...
One of the worst-hit sections
The fire was selective in this neighborhood (note the blackened hill on the other side of Del Dios Highway)
Damaged oak woodland along the trail
Looks like a pretty autumn picture were it not for the fact that Live Oak leaves don't turn brown!
Surviving oak next to a fallen neighbor
