South African Suite

(A Musical Tribute to the Birds of South Africa and the One Who Made Them)

The musical material which makes up this work, originally written for string quartet, is taken from the transcribed songs and calls of over 300 South African birds.  It is made up of six movements, each movement representing six different avifaunal regions within the country:

I.  Potchefstroom. 

II.  Wakkerstroom. 

III.  The Cape. 

IV.  The Karoo. 

V.  Drakensburg. 

VI.  Natal.
